Maternity and Newborn Studio Photography Session by Sheena Kaszynski Photography
I understand that scheduling a maternity session can seem stressful at first! I am here to tell you that you have no need to worry! I am happy to answer any questions you may have, but first, I am going to cover some commonly asked questions or concerns. If you have a different question, please send me a message using the contact form.
1. When should I book? I recommend scheduling your session for when you are between 32-36 weeks pregnant.
2. What should I wear? This may be the most complex question, so I’d like you to evaluate your style and the location you’ve selected. Do you love boho chic, modern, or do you want a simple or more classic look? Do you want to go big and wear an elegant, flowing gown? Is the session going to take place in the studio or outdoors? What is your favorite color? Some like to coordinate colors with baby’s gender, if they have chosen to find out. Another good question is what time of year is your session taking place, and is staying warm a concern for you? You may dream of wearing a gown in the snow, but I encourage this only if you think you will be comfortable! I have gowns available at the studio by request as well. 3. What should I wear under this dress? Please consider your undergarments when preparing for your session. If you plan to wear a black or very dark colored dress, black underwear may be a good choice, otherwise, for all other colors, I recommend wearing nude. If you are providing your own outfit, it is a very good idea to try everything on before the session, to make sure it fits well and there are no wardrobe malfunctions.
4. Mani/Pedi: Your nails will be in the photos, so go ahead and pamper yourselves by getting your nails done before your session. It is not a requirement to have them professionally painted; but feel free to do so if you wish! If all else fails and you either forget or don’t have time, it would be best to remove any chipped polish. This also goes for your hair and makeup!! If you are hoping to schedule an appointment for professional hair and makeup and would like this to align with your maternity session, we are happy to work with you, so please let us know during the scheduling process or when inquiring.
5. Can my partner or other children be included in my maternity session? The answer is, absolutely!! If you plan to have photos taken with your partner/spouse or other children, simple clothing with minimal patterns and logos are the best option, and help to keep you as the main focus!
